Poopie's Second Birthday

Well, today my Poopie Boy turned two. I can't believe it was two years ago that we got the call about him. I am SOOO grateful for that call... He is talking up a storm now and can say his A-B-C's and count to all the way up to 15! He LOVES to sing and listen to music and he is in love with Dora the Explorer. :) Poopie is still all about cars, trucks, planes and trains. He is obsessed with basketball. To him, everything is basketball. If he is watching a baseball or football game, he smiles and says, "Basketball!" Soccer and Footballs are also called basketballs. :) Hmmm... I'm begining to wonder if he might like basketball... lol Anyway, we had a few neighbor families over tonight for hot dogs and chips. Poopie had a great time and every time the door bell rang, he said, "My Mickey Mouse Party!" and ran to the door. :) He even had fun before his party while I was making his cupcake/cake. He kept asking me for more mixer beaters. (I stole the idea of the cupcake/cake from my friend Jennifer. Just one of MANY idea's I have stolen from her. lol )

I was so happy because I stumbled across a great deal on decorations at orientaltradingcompany.com. For $20.00 we got all the decorations including 24 balloons, plates, napkins, cups, Mickey Mouse hats, streamers, party blowers, invitations, thank-you cards, stickers, table cloths and the Mickey Mouse candle! If I would have bought all of that at the party store, I would have paid almost $100.00!

I was even more happy with the fact that we had such a wonderful night and Poopie had so much fun.

This night was a great memory.

The "Little Park"

There is a little park next to our community pool about 1 block down the street from our house. Right next to this "play area" there is a real city park being built that will be ready around Sept. of 2008. (I hope) The city park will be huge and we are excited to see what the completed park will look like. The park is one reason why we chose this neighborhood. We will have a huge park, pool and the kids elementry school all right next to eachother! There is also a Jr. High about 5 blocks away and a new high school being built on the street right next to the Jr. High! We will have everything we need for the kids to grow up, all right at our finger tips! Anyway, Poopie had cabin fever on Saturday so we took the kids to the little, but lovely "play area" for a while so they could get their energy out before we had to run errands. Miguel and Andi met up with a friend from school and Poopie was running around like a track star.

It turned out to be really nice.

Water Tower

When we were trying to pick a house to buy in Texas, I KNEW I did not want to be around any water towers. I thought it would look ugly and to big for a neighborhood, and I didn't want it flying through my house during a twister... :) Well, right down our street they built a water tower and I LOVE it! I love seeing it at the bottom of our street when I am leaving the house or looking up to see it on my way home. Not only does it look beautiful, but it is a neighborhood marker. It helps that the city of McKinney has such a beautiful slogan and font for the city logo. I don't know if you can read it on the pics below, but it says...

This is their slogan because McKinney is really big on planting trees and trying to keep everything "green." Anyway, here it is. MY water tower. :)

I also love the big, blue Texas skies. I never get used to how pretty it looks.

I am a picture theif. I stole this map off of Janette's blog because it is the first accurate map of the US I have ever seen! :)

Misc. last week...

Last week Poopie went on a play date to the Hafen Home. I enjoyed ADULT conversation (which means no singing or talking about the Dora theme song)and Poopie no doubt enjoyed learning the concept of sharing. He still needs to work on that... :)

On another note, my friend Lisa Y. sent me some really cool placemats when we first moved here, and honestly, I had no idea where they were. Andi came accross them the other day and was so excited to set the table with the "Texas" placemats. She was so proud. She made little bow tie napkins out of paper towels to put in the middle. So thanks Lisa, one year later your placemats are a Hill Family hit! :)

Very Sad...

Tonight, the president of our church passed away. He was a wonderful man who did wonders for not only our church, but for the world. I will miss seeing him speak.

This news has come as a total shock to me tonight. I don't have much to say...

Baby It's Cold Outside...

This is is pic of how Andi and Miguel have to dress to go to school. They have not been able to go to recess all week because it is to cold! I love living somewhere that has an actual winter!

Big Boy Potty!

Poopie went on his new potty today for the first time. He didn't actually "go", but he asked me to get it out of the box and said he wanted to "go-on-potty." Who is going to say no to that? I always tell everyone that he is JUST like Eric, and he proved that to be true yet again today when he picked up the paper... :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COUSIN SHANNON!

My Dear Cousin turned 30.... something yesterday. This is the same cousin who is posting some great low-cal recipes on her family web site for me in order to help with my weight loss. Even all the way from California she managed to be very active in supporting me. Here's to you Cousin Shannon! The world is a greater place because of you!
