OKC Trip - The Bombing Memorial

Below: these tiles were made by children around the US.
They have a place on the ground to sign before you walk in the front doors.
Below: This tree was a symbol of hope for everyone after the bombing. Although it was right in front and everything around it was destroyed, the tree remained standing.
Below: the tradition here is that you dip your hands in the reflection pool and leave your hand prints on the wall...

Below: The regual sized chairs are for the adults and the little chairs are for the children/babies who were killed in the daycare center. The memorial inside had their pics along with personal mementos of them that their families chose such as booties, favorite toys etc. It was sooo sad. They did the same for the adults and had items like fishing lures, make up cases, class rings...

Below: Everyone was talking about how beautiful it was at night so we went back later that evening...

Below... From a distance, the chairs lit from the bottom only look like gravestones. It was VERY moving.

I know. I was just pointing out that the little chairs were for the babies. The reg size chairs were for the adults. It's so sad...

wow. What an amazing memorial. Thanks for all the pictures. it looks magical at night. How sad that the reason for all that beauty is that hundreds of lives were cut short.
