First Fire of the Season

I love having a real fall season. That was something we missed out on in So. Cal. Today, the high was 61 and the low will be 31 tonight! :) Everyone who knows me knows I have had an obsession with a "holiday fireplace" all my life. When we were having this house built, I asked for brick instead of the standard tile. I am glad I did. I finally have the fireplace of my dreams. :)

By the way, those are Halloween bat lights. :)

I'm jealous! It's still shorts weather here! We'll probably be ready for a fire by the middle of November, but our social worker made us sign an affidavit saying we wouldn't use the fireplace until the adoption is final :(

I love fall too!

Okay I don't know if you ever found the recipe for the casserole. Here's the one I grew up on.

Broccoli, Rice, Cheese, and Chicken Casserole

2 C. Water
2 C. uncooked instant rice
2 C. Shredded Cooked Chicken (canned, boiled, rotisserie)
1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1 can condensed cream of chicken soup
1/4 cup butter (melted)
1 cup milk
1 (16 ounce) package frozen chopped broccoli
1 package dry onion soup mix
16 oz cheddar cheese (I like to do half cheddar and half velveeta) you can add cheddar to the top too!

1. Preheat oven to 350.
2. Cook rice
3. Then in a baking (9x13) mix ALL ingredients and back for 30-35 min.

I won't even begin to post crockpot recipes. . . but I have HUNDREDS that I LOVE!!

I love it:)

It makes me sad though b/c we had a brick fireplace in our old house...and NO fireplace in this one:( It was a spec home and everything else worked perfect for us.....we had to move fast or else move into an apartment since our house sold so fast. So I had to make a big compromise on this! At least I can still go enjoy a fire at my parents house:) There is nothing like a REAL fire:) That's why I really need to get a fire pit:)

Doh! I still haven't sent you any recipes. If you still need some, send me an email to remind me b/c I'll totally forget. :)

I've always wanted a fireplace like that, too. It looks awesome! So jealous.
